Japan electronic components maker TDK agreed to acquire InvenSense, a MEMS inertial sensor and Microphone maker in US, with total value around 1.3 billion USD. TDK announced that they will pay $13 for every InvenSense share.
TDK focus on automobile, ICT, industry and electricity systems. As the high speed development in recent years of IoT, the sensor technology become its core part, especially in automobile and intelligent electricity systems. By acquiring InvenSense, TDK will also focus on motion sensor, current sensor, tiny microphone and so on.
InvenSense met serious trouble in operation in last one year. Although they take around 50% market share in high end smart phone area, their sales volume keeps going lower and lower. They got deficit in last three quarters. The deficits came to around 20.2 million USD and 12.5 million USD in recent two quarters.
